Who We Are

We are Mary and Lucy Firestone, sisters who share a love of traveling and experiencing new places, cultures, the great outdoors, food, fashion, and helping others travel more authentically, effortlessly and dynamically. And bringing that playful vacation spirit back home into everyday life!…

We are not Twins! We are commonly confused for each other (we will confess that we do look a lot alike). While we love spending time together, we are, in fact, quite different– Just ask any of our family or friends! Even our childhood rooms are a testament to our differences.

Growing up together, our fondest memories include: sister bonding road trips up and down the Eastern seaboard (most without the permission of our parents), realizing that foam parties were overrated in Mojaca, Spain, and climbing the Great Wall of China together in 100% humidity. We still love going on our frequent bonding trips and having any excuse to travel. While we’re over the youth hostel experience, we find five-star hotels can be stuffy, over-priced and inauthentic.

We love discovering the spirit of each place we visit. From the hotels, shops, restaurants and bars (no chains!), to unique experiences in each area. We have searched high and low to find where to go and what to do. (If you think we’ve missed anything, let us know! We love hot finds!) We’ve created a website and blog where you can find our tips and what we are up to, and download our simple and fun guidebooks to our favorite places. We also have a travel show in development so you may soon find us on TV or be able to stream us on the web so you can be on virtual vacation with us! We hope to be a source of inspiration and show you a new way to experience the world where you are and the world where you want to go. Join us on our journey and share in our life’s adventures. See you out there!

Mary FirestoneGrowing up in Washington D.C., Mary’s room was perfection in pink. Adorned with collages made from high fashion magazines, designer and vintage clothes strewn about, Mary’s room was a shrine to Hollywood Glamour Queens. Stacked beside her bed were cherished biographies of Marilyn Monroe, Katherine Hepburn, and other divas of the silver screen. Admiring the iconic sirens is most likely where Mary developed her love of acting. She logged countless phone hours (before cell phones, so Lucy could never get a call), coordinated movie dates, and was known by friends as the local social butterfly. Mary attended Princeton, majored in English, and wrote the first thesis in screenplay format in Princeton history: A true story that took place during the revolution in Nicaragua in the late 70s-early 80s. Mary further pursued her love of the Silver Screen by working in development for Julia Roberts’ production company in New York City.

Mary received her masters degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University, which has helped her navigate the colorful personalities of Hollywood! Her acting talent has also earned her the opportunity to work with some incredible actors on various films, including Harvey Keitel, Holly Hunter, and Lindsay Lohan. She most recently filmed a part for David O’Russell’s NAILED, playing a lobbyist and ex-lover to Jake Gyllenhaal’s wily congressman.

Lucy FirestoneTwo years younger, Lucy’s childhood room was blue and lined with shelves crowded with sporting trophies. Lucy was the adventurous tomboy and natural athlete, playing boys hockey and baseball and becoming a high school all-American. She was and still is, the first in the water, the last out, and the ski enthusiast who zips off the slope into uncharted terrain. Also attending Princeton, Lucy majored in history and wrote a thesis on the Native American plight revolving around Leonard Peltier and the FBI. She also played varsity ice hockey and lacrosse.

After a stint at VH1’s Pop-up Video, Lucy moved to Aspen, Colorado where she wore many hats as a ski instructor, a cocktail waitress, and a producer and director for a grassroots television show. A year later, the sisters were reunited when Lucy moved to Los Angeles to start her career in film development and production. Lucy began her Hollywood journey at New Regency and was most recently the Vice President of Penn Station, a production company with a first look deal at Fox. She also had the opportunity to live in Melbourne for six months while working on the box office hit GHOSTRIDER. She currently teaches a writing class to incarcerated juveniles at Camp Gonzales in Malibu and is on the board of InsideOut Writers.

Philanthropy has always been and continues to be really important to both Lucy and Mary. They are active in their family’s foundation, as well as being founding members of The Name Campaign, an awareness initiative to bring necessary attention to ending the conflict in Northern Uganda.
