One of our favorite restaurants in LA (and maybe the world) is Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica Canyon. We had always bemoaned the fact that there was nowhere fun and cool to have a before dinner cocktail and most importantly an after dinner nightcap or two. This bemoaning was amplified when Mary moved to the neighborhood and the only spot to go was R+D on Montana which gets sort of old and tired…. We would muse upon the sheer mystery that nobody was seizing the ripe opportunity to open a chic, hip spot in an area with no competition.
Well somebody just did! John Terzian of the.h.wood. group transformed the former Hideout dive bar (conveniently located next to Giorgio’s!) into a Cape Cod meets a modern and stylish Rat Pack cocktail bar called SHOREbar. With Vincenzo Marianella of Copa d’Oro creating a list of 29 delightful cocktails and a well rounded and fairly priced wine and beer menu (appreciate a $7 good glass of wine in a chic spot), a DJ and booths that feel like you’re dockside, this is our new favorite local watering hole. And we’re deeply intrigued by a “members only club” upstairs that is meant to open sometime soon… Consider our applications for membership respectfully submitted.
