The Dunmore, our favorite hotel on Harbour Island in the Bahamas where we are currently swaddled in ski parkas and beach towels as we await a cold front to pass, has hired a fabulous new chef.
Alex Urena has an illustrious and star studded culinary background including tutelage under celebrity Chef David Bouley in NYC followed by stints at other esteemed New York restaurants including Blue Hill, as well as several years at the helm of his own restaurant, Urena, has returned to warmer weather on Harbour Island. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Urena has joined our Bahamian adopted "family" at The Dunmore as of a few weeks ago. His menu embraces the local fare and is fantastic with our favorites being the open-face shrimp ravioli to start, followed by the conch with parmesean rice and squid ink. The blackened fish tacos for lunch are also a highlight. As we await the sun to come back out, we'll continue to work our way down the menu... Hard work indeed!
