Nesting! AKA redecorating my entire house
from top: my current bedroom seating area; pins from my Pinterest board for inspiration; the splurge-y Quatrine chairs I ordered (half off!) for my bedroom.
For me it is true what they say about being pregnant and nesting! I have been on a tear to rearrange, redecorate and cleanse my entire house and garden. And with the added pressure of the baby's due date-- July 29th, I am feeling the urge to get it done and get it done quick!! Can you other mothers/prego mamas relate?
And my efforts are certainly not confined to the nursery. Oh no, they span the entire house and garden much to my husband's chagrin and trepidation about expenditures. I have been thrifty where at all possible, my interior designer friend Susan Taylor turned me on to the joys of eBay-- you have to know what you want and type it in specifically (i.e. Raoul textiles) and you may get lucky. I also have friend Amy Eldon-Turteltaub's fancy Oeuf crib on loan; purchased the nursery carpet at a discount from One King's Lane; and purchased the changing table/dresser from Ikea and just ordered glam mirrored glass knobs from Anthropologie to gussy it up.
Pinterest has been my Bible and another interior designer friend, Cate Mills (check out her amazing boards on Pinterest), has been a great touchstone for decision making and guidance. I have turned to Restoration Hardware for my glider chair for the nursery and a new loveseat/sofa for my bedroom (on sale! And good quality so spending a little more is a better choice than cheaping out and having to get a new sofa/chair in two years). My biggest splurge has been on the chairs above from Quatrine for my bedroom that I got half off at their floor sale. They are heaven to sit in and the covers are washable and durable which seemed like a good idea with the baby!
With my mother in town this weekend, am planning on hitting some flea markets or perhaps the fantastic (and inexpensive!) furniture shops in Orange, CA, for pieces to tie it all together. Will send pictures when it is "finished!"
Please share other design inspiration/resources you have have found!! Am all ears. And pictures, too!
