Shopping and Eating in NYC

On a recent weekend trip to my former home of NYC, I got a major dose of style, divine eating and reconnection with old friends who know me too well....

Brunch with Joyce at the Standard in the Meatpacking District was a many hour affair followed by some shoe shopping in earnest.  We both were drawn to the Christian Louboutin studded wedges (love the studs that are everywhere this season!  And love when they blend with ladylike pieces for that yin yang of refined rockstar).  Unfortunately, we could barely walk in them and so they were left behind.  On the hunt for neutral wedges, Joyce encouraged a stop at Jeffrey, which I hadn't been to in years.  Lovely!  Fantastic selection, helpful and friendly salespeople, great space.  Love Jeffrey.

Dinner with Lucia, Laurie, Paget and Taylor, also friends from my college days, at Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria in the East Village was a feast.  The salads were enormous and flavorful and the pastas made us very happy.  This delectable Italian spot was first brought to my attention by my pal Jessica who at the time was an editor at Food + Wine-- fair to say Jess has the hottest tips on where to eat.  And frankly where to shop as she is one chic mama!

The next morning, I met up with Jess at my new favorite restaurant in the West Village -- again Jess's suggestion-- Buvette.  Buvette is chaaaarming.  Our brunch was scrumptious-- kicked off by lattes and fresh mini-croissants with butter and jam, scrambled eggs with prosciutto followed.  And as an added perk, frontman for the band Phoenix was saddled up having breakfast at the bar just in front of us.  Handsome rockstars make every breakfast better.  Glancing down at Jess's feet, I spied the clog boots I have been eyeing for months.  As my high-heeled boots (I swear, they are comfortable in LA but walking miles on concrete in NYC and you want to chop your feet off), were about to be the death of me, I beelined for No. 6 per Jess's rec for a pair of the black clog boots.  Annnd I ordered a pair of the gold clog sandals for Spring and Summer!  Cute and comfortable.

With my suitcase weighed down by all my new shoes and my heart full from all the good time with my girls, it was time to leave the beloved concrete jungle.  Until we meet again. xox
