Be Divine: Caviar and Champagne!
We recently enjoyed a truly decadent caviar and champagne saturated lunch at Petrossian in West Hollywood. Started by the Petrossian brothers in 1920s Paris, Petrossian is the premier buyer and importer of Russian caviar worldwide-- they are essentially the grandfathers of caviar. Caviar can be intimidating to many (including us pre-Petrossian tutorial). Well no need for this intimidation to linger thanks to the Caviar 101 "classes" held by Petrossian. Go with a group of girls or on a hot and inventive date to Caviar 101, Petrossian's Intro to Caviar "class" - featuring up to 5 caviars, paired with either a glass of champagne or a flute of vodka, as well as caviar-centric appetizers. Caviar 101 is the first Thursday and Friday of every month and costs $35. Reservations are required. And if "class" goes well, stick around for a divine dinner by Chef Giselle Wellman. She practically reduced us to tears of joy with the Egg Royale- soft scrambled egg, vodka whipped cream and caviar-- and East Coast Scallops Risotto topped with truffles. If you don't live in LA, do not despair! There are Petrossian cafes, boutiques and restaurants in New York, Sao Paulo and Las Vegas.
