Farm Fresh to You -- Local, organic fruits and vegetables delivered to your door!
Napper and I have been cooking a lot more the last few months and have a morning smoothie (recipe below) that saws through lots of fruit and vegetables each week. When we stumbled upon Farm Fresh to You, a delivery service that drops a box of local and organic fresh fruit and vegetables to your door weekly-- for only $25, we signed up. Our first box arrived last week right on schedule and was an assortment of apples, oranges, mint, mushrooms, collard greens, strawberries and carrots. Delight! They also include recipes for inspiration and guidance. When you sign up online, you can opt out of certain fruits and veggies that you're not into as well as selecting all fruit or all veg-- design what works for you! Our smoothie that starts us on the right foot for the day and love the fact that by breakfast, we've already had all of our "required" fruits and veggies for the day!
Blissful Breakfast (adapted from Smoothies by Kathryn, a great smoothie cleanse we did last summer)
heaping handful of spinach
heaping handful of kale
heaping handful of romaine lettuce
half an apple
half a pear
about 5 strawberries
small handful of parsley and cilantro, combined
squeeze of a quarter lemon
water
(sometimes we add blueberries or other fruit we have in the house)
Optional: We also add a tablespoon of fish oil and a tablespoon of Warrior Food protein powder.
Put everything in the blender and blend away! You may have to blend down some of the greens before adding other ingredients.
