In South Beach? Why yes. A quiet little B&B in the heart of South Beach.
On our way back from St. Lucia for New Year's we had an over night layover in Miami and didn't feel like spending a small fortune on a crazy South Beach hotel (tis the high season and the hotels just go for it pricewise and partywise). In researching we stumbled upon glowing reviews of the SoBeYou Bed & Breakfast located in the heart of South Beach but just a few blocks from the wild action of Collins Ave. It looked cute and charming and the price was right at under $200/night including a full breakfast. And we couldn't find a bad review of the place anywhere. Promising. And so we booked.
We arrived a bit bedraggled and cranky from our international flight and customs and were indeed charmed by the lush foliage surrounding the art deco buildings and pool of SoBeYou. We showed ourselves in and were somewhat dismayed to discover that we had booked ourselves into rooms without bathrooms! Eek! Haven't done that since backpacking in Europe 15 years ago. At least our rooms were adjacent and the only two that shared the (very clean, cool art deco) bathroom. But just pay attention when booking! The rooms were tiny but immaculately clean with lovely linens, art deco antiques, terry cloth robes and Mary's fave, Judith Jackson bath products. We slept very well and were delighted with the full breakfast served poolside the next morning before having to return to the airport. Christina at the front desk was very cool and friendly and if we would have stayed longer we would have loved taking advantage of the rare peace and quiet at SoBeYou-- away from the fun, but relentless action of South Beach. For longer stays we love that they offer guest passes to Nikki Beach Club for beach chairs and umbrellas.
A great option for peace and quiet on a budget in South Beach!
