Mankas Inverness Lodge

There is nothing like a cabin in the woods to reset and peacefully get in touch with yourself and nature. Mankas Inverness Lodge, nestled in the Inverness Hills near Point Reyes, just one hour North of San Francisco, is the perfect hideaway to do exactly that. Established in 1917 for hunting and fishing, the lodge burned to the ground in 2006.  The eight rooms, 2 cabins, and one suite have been perfectly redone in meticulous coziness.  Red wool blankets, old books, hunting parapherenalia, leather reading chairs, and open fire places complete the mood here.  There are no TVs - one more thing to help you embrace the tranquility of your surroundings.  The best bonus of Mankas are the outdoor Japanese soaking tubs (very "Bachelor," in a good way!).  I also loved being greeted with a warm apple cider spiked with spiced rum at check in, and the next morning enjoying a delicious breakfast of homemade yogurt and granola brought to the room.  The hot morning buns were also a treat.  You will not want to leave your room or cabin! A romantic retreat indeed.
