TEDx San Diego and a historic hotel in La Jolla, CA make for a mind and soul expanding weekend!
Perhaps mind and soul expanding sounds lofty but I can't think of another way to describe my weekend at TEDx San Diego than that. I had high hopes indeed as TED talks have been some of the most motivating and inspirational messages the last few years. Well, my high hopes were surpassed as one talk after another left me teary, breathless, and moved -- I drove back to LA with a fire lit under my ass to change the world!
Mary Brambila, owner of Brambila Salon in Santa Monica, was my partner in crime and the stunning "Pink Lady" of La Jolla, La Valencia was our delightful oceanfront home base. We adore this hotel for its history (some parts of the hotel date back to 1908!), its utter beauty- frescoed ceilings, intricate and colorful tilework, the pool, the views, and its personable and professional staff. Room 905 was our oceanfront oasis where we rested up for the big event and shared highlights afterwards.
And there were many highlights. Here are a few:
"No matter what happens we have a choice in how we respond." -Dr. Edith Eger
"Anchor into a positive emotion and the whole world rises up to meet you." -Bhava Ram
"Be at ease with yourself. Be kind. Be happy." -Thupton Jinpa
"No one of us is smarter than all of us. Collaborate. Don't let anyone limit you. You're here to give not to get." - Dr. Ken Blanchard
I will be posting more inspiration and motivation from the talks in the coming weeks! Tis the season. xoxox
