Yoga and Shopping in Washington, DC

YOGA

On our trip to our hometown of Washington, DC last week, we carved out some much needed time to ourselves to recharge with a yoga class.  Childhood friend Alix Wilson, also from DC, has moved back and is living in the hip DuPont Circle area, told us about the fabulous classes offered at Tranquil Space.  A quick 15 minute walk from our house to the studio and we had warmed up in time for Diane's "Yoga On the Go" hour long class.  It was the perfect balance of zen, challenge, music and instruction.  Our only wish is that Tranquil Space would open an LA outpost....

Feeling refreshed and reinvigorated after yoga and showers, we headed (again by foot!  Novel concept after driving everywhere in our youth) to Georgetown for some shopping.  Georgetown is without a doubt the "cutest," most quaint and charming part of the city.  With candy colored town houses, gas lamps and mature trees lining narrow streets that border the hubs of Wisconsin Avenue and M Street that are chock full of boutiques, restaurants and bars, it is one of the heartbeats of Washington.  We stopped into our friend Sassy's shop Sassanova and while she is known for her keen eye for shoes, we discovered a fabulous clothing line called Koch and walked out with some chic (and affordable) earrings.

Just across the street, we happened upon the cheerful and well stocked Urban Chic boutique.  This was the perfect spot to stock up on colorful summer dresses and beach wear-- they carry vibrant and well made Shoshanna swimwear.

We wandered down Wisconsin Avenue towards M Street for a naughty snack of a peppermint brownie and tea at Dean & Deluca before heading home to don a new ensemble for an evening out on the town!
