Wine, Olive Oil, and Vinegar Tastings over lunch at Round Pound Estate in Napa!
Wine tastings are practically a weekly occurrence for us one way or another. But olive oil and vinegar tastings? Nope. Never done it. Until our lovely afternoon spent at Round Pond Estate in Napa. Not only do they make some fine wines on the second largest estate in Napa, but they also make their own olive oils and vinegars.
We made our way down the stately palm lined drive to the winery just in time for our Il Pranzo Lunch appointment. The Il Pranzo Lunch is comprised of an array of delights from the Round Pond Estate organic gardens accompanied by meats, cheeses, bread, a special dessert (to die for olive oil cake!) all paired with their wines. After a brief tour, tutorial and tasting of the olive oil and vinegars (which are tasted via a sugar cube- different), we were left to douse our organic greens with whichever olive oils and vinegars had won our hearts. Our favorite olive oils were the Spanish and the Meyer Lemon. The Round Pond experience is one of the most civilized and elegant tastings we've ever had sans snootiness.
