Bye Bye Dry... how to conquer winter skin and hair

With blaring heat in colder climes and the Santa Ana winds out in So Cal, waking up in the morning can feel like waking up in the Sahara.  And the dry heat wreaks havoc on skin, hair and nails.

Combat winter dryness!!

Skin and Nails

Our beloved facialist and aesthetician Dee Bartolo recommends warming almond oil and soaking nails (hands and feet) for several minutes to help with dry cuticles.  Or massage some heated almond oil onto your toes before bed and sleep in cotton socks.  This treatment is really great for the nails, especially for those of us who like to wear polish-- give your toes a break while you can hide them in boots!

Our skin was really dry after being in Costa Rica and getting a bit of a tan.  Dee suggested Epicuren Avocado Moisturizing Body Lotion, which soothed our skin and got rid of dry spots within a few days.

And for our faces Dr. Lancer's Repair: AM/PM Nourishment is expensive but so worth it.  We use it primarily just at night and use a sunscreen in the morning-- Dee recommends Mesoestetic SPF 50 for the face which we've been really happy with.

Finally, go see Dee for a tune up.  Dry, flaky skin can clog pores leading to breakouts and dull looking skin.  After we see Dee our skin is radiant and even strangers approach us asking us to divulge our secrets-- secret is out!!

Hair

For dry hair and scalp, our hair guru Mary Brambila of Brambila Salon loves the Rene Furterer products especially the Karite line for dryness.

Also, why not give your hair a break from the blow dryer, curling iron and flat iron?  Work some Orofluido, a mixture of linseed, argan and cyperus oils, through damp hair and let it air dry.  The combo of these oils repairs hair making it soft and shiny.

Apart from what we put on our bodies, think about drinking tons of water throughout your day... being hydrated helps!
