Our associate writer and actress, Alix Liiv shares her beauty secrets!

Everyone has their own beauty regiments and I am not proclaiming to be a Beauty Guru, but most of us are curious to find what works for friends so....

Here's what works for me leaving me with younger, tighter, healthier skin!

1) Drink lots of water. I know you have all heard this before, but that is because it is true. Water hydrates you-- beauty from the inside out. It is essential to glowing, healthy skin.

2) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO I GO TO BED WEARING MAKE-UP! Hitting the hay with your make up still in tact is a sure fire way to ensure that your pores will clog, your skin will dry up, and pimples will begin to form. Um, gross!!!

3) If I do happen to have a pimple, I use Cosmedicine Speedy Recovery Acne Treatment. This clear on the spot formula is made with the number one acne killer: salicylic acid. And because it is clear, it can do double zit zapping duty- during the day and while I sleep. It also hydrates and softens skin, exfoliates oils and excess debris, reduces the appearance of redness, and neutralizes bacteria to help eliminate future breakouts. You can find buy it on the Cosmedicine website with a money back guarantee (that's confidence!) or find it at Sephora for $18.

4) For smooth, soft, vibrant skin when you wake, apply Mario Badesco’s Bee Pollen Night Cream.  This rich moisturizing cream is made with honey extract, beeswax and rejuvenating oils. While a tad thick when applying, it blends into the skin easily and smells delicious. In the morning, your face is glowing! $18

5) During the day I wear Kiehl’s Moisturizing lotion with SPF 15. It is lightweight and extremely protective. It moisturizes my skin, while also allowing it to breathe and not feel heavy if and when you apply a foundation or cover up. $19 for the 2.5 fl oz. bottle

6) For my lips, I use A & D Diaper Rash Ointment. I know it sounds disgusting, but I PROMISE you that this tube will provide you with a soft and smooth pout suitable for any weather and/or human condition. My mom would apply this stuff on my brother’s lips and mine when we were younger and I suppose it is just one of those family traditions I took with me into my young adult life. Most lip balms make your lips more chapped. That is why you wind up applying all day long. This ointment does not dry your lips out and actually helps heal them. You can find this lip soother at your local drug store for around $4.

Love,

Alix
