Railroad Revival Tour! Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show board a vintage train that takes them through the Southwest playing concerts along the way....
We love music but are not necessarily music aficionados-- nor especially cutting edge with our musical tastes which can be quite liberal (yes, our iPods maybe have some Brittney, Rihanna, J Lo....) BUT we do both love the catchy soulful sounds of Mumford & Sons and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. So when we were hanging out with a group of achingly hip Venice, CA artists and musicians last weekend (feeling very square and preppy all the while) we were excited to hear about the Railroad Revival Tour these bands are embarking on next week! The three bands board a vintage train starting in Oakland, CA and travel from there to San Pedro, CA, Tempe, AZ, Marfa, TX, Austin, TX and end up in New Orleans, LA... just at the kick off of Jazz Fest. At each stop they play a concert in an unique outdoor location. Sounds pretty fantastic, right?
On the official site, it says most of the shows are sold out, but we've been searching the web for tickets to the New Orleans show-- Mary has never been and Lucy only for a few nights, so we figure what a great opportunity to explore the city, get a dose of hip culture and report back to you all....
