The best MARGARITAS in Los Angeles!
We are definitely tequilia lovers-- our older cousins introduced us to the "good stuff" (100% agave) as soon as we were of legal drinking age as well as the "benefits"-- tequilia is apparently the only alcohol that is an upper and not a depressant. Whatever the science or lack there of, a good margarita is a festive and delicious cocktail!
The BEST margaritas in Los Angeles according to us:
1. Rivera
Mary just went to this sleek sophisticated "pan Latin" restaurant last night for the first time. Located a block from the Staples Center and Nokia Theater, this is a great spot for dinner and margs before a concert or game. The margarita is sublime. Served with one gigantic customized ice cube that doesn't dilute the cocktail, Rivera's margarita is refreshing, not too sweet... maybe too delicious! The food here matches the deliciousness of the cocktails although the portions are small.
2. Lula's
Lula's is far from fancy and has had it's plum location on Main St. Santa Monica for 15 plus years. The food here is basic and nothing to write home about, but the margaritas are far superior to other Mexican restaurants in the vicinity-- made with 100% agave tequilia and fresh lime juice (no mix!) they put smiles on our faces!
3. Red O
This newer swish spot in West Hollywood is popular and can be a bit sceney with mostly a cool, attractive crowd. The Scorpion Margarita is spicy and good, infused with a little serrano chili, and the Market Margarita is the opposite-- cooling and a little bit (but not too) sweet with muddled cucumber and honeydew melon. The food here is good not mindblowing, but with a few of these cocktails....
Cheers to a long weekend and let us know where you sip your favorite margaritas!!
