the Little Door opens in Santa Monica!

The much beloved (by us and many others) little door restaurant in West Hollywood has opened a new location in Santa Monica! According to our hostess, the chef, T. Nicolas Peter, just moved to the Westside so a Westside outpost of the restaurant was a natural choice. And the old Villetta space, the perfect spot! We rejoiced over having another delightful dining option on this side of town as we cycle through our usuals (Tar & Roses, Giorgio Baldi, Blue Plate Oysterette, Rustic Canyon, Tasting Kitchen, Axe) too often and have grown bored.
Napper and I showed up without a reservation this past Saturday night in the hopes of sitting at the bar for dinner or having a drink and popping across the street to another favorite, Farmshop, if the little door was too slammed. Lucky for us, there had been a cancellation and we were shown to a lovely table right beside the fire. Our charming French waiter was funny and made the long waits between courses better... The food was sublime. The best we've had in LA since Republique. And that's on the other side of town. Dishes not to miss: the octopus, sea bass, risotto with chanterelles and kale, and the rhubarb tart for dessert!
So happy to have a new go to spot just up the street!! What are your favorite date night dinner spots?
