5 Favorite Dinner Spots in Venice!
1. Ado
Bustling and cozy little Italian restaurant on Main St. We love the beet taglioini with quail ragu. Read our full write up here.
2. Axe
Axe is finally open for business after a massive fire shut it down last year. We have missed this favorite and their organic, clean yet tasty food. Great fish, flatbread with spreads and sides. We've heard it's been a bit of a celeb hang out since reopening....
3. Gjelina
Gjelina has been the darling of Abbot Kinney since it opened a few years ago. Although we were not into the 'tude they doled out, that seems to be levitating-- especially with Axe re-opening. And the food really is delicious. The thin crust pizzas and salty butterscotch custard dessert are heaven. Back garden is where it's at.
4. Primitivo
Primitivo is great for a group or for dinner with one other you have a similar palate to as you share lots of small plates here. We love the garlicky shrimp, bacon wrapped dates and steak frites. Our go to spots to sit are out on the back patio, or at the high top tables by the bar. Mary, the owner, knows her wines really well and has a diverse and interesting wine list.
Fun to come and sit at the bar and communal tables serviced by the handsome waitstaff. It can get super loud (never ever let them seat you upstairs) and the portions are small and expensive but they whip up some delicious cocktails and plates of pasta, fish and a charcuterie plate we adore.
Runner's Up
6. Piccolo
This little Italian spot just off the boardwalk is intimate and delicious. The scallop appetizer will blow your mind even if you don't like scallops.
7. Lilly's
One of our old faves, Lilly's is a casual French spot with a fabulous back patio. The salmon with lentils and hanger steak with fries are spot on.
8. Tlapazola
Off the beaten path, great Mexican food that is well priced and great for a group.
9. Hal's
This Venice haunt has been around for decades and we still like coming here for their turkey burgers or mixed seafood grill.
