A luxe bachelorette weekend of debauchery in LAGUNA, CA

We are still recovering a week later from our cousin Lisa's bachelorette weekend in Laguna.  It was a most luxurious setting for going bananas and drinking our weight in liquor-- our home base was the Montage Resort, one of the most decadent and stunning hotels we've ever laid eyes on, much less stayed at (even though we rested our heads upon cots in the common area).  The Montage is set on a bluff overlooking the most picturesque beaches in Southern California.  There are two swimming pools that take advantage of the view-- we parked ourselves at the Spa Pool which is adults only-- no screaming children to kill the vibe.  The service is spot on-- refilling your fresh fruit or cucumber infused water poolside, and delivering lunch and cocktail delights as you soak up the sun (the Bungalow is our favorite cocktail-- Grey Goose vodka with fresh lime juice, basil, grapes and white cranberry juice).  And the lunch items were all great except for the turkey club which had slabs of thick, unappetizing turkey.  And for $20, you want to skip it....

When we weren't lolling around the property, we headed into the town of Laguna which as achingly cute (and can be super crowded, so just mentally prepare) for surfing with adorable surf teachers from Soul Surfing.  They took us out on a pretty flat day, wavewise but we still had a lot of fun catching a few waves and just being in the water.

Ice cream from Chantilly Ice Cream at 202 Park Ave., was a good reward after our surf session.  Mint chocolate chip and cookies and cream are highly recommended!

For dinner we headed out to Bluefin for sushi which was bit of a drive, but served interesting and fresh rolls.  We popped into to Javier's, one of the most popular spots around to make the Bachelorette do a shot and then continued onto Sutra, the most "happening" nightclub in the OC.  We're not really nightclub aficiandos anymore, but the crowd was attractive (it seems to be all over the OC), the music was fun and current and the drinks were flowing.

Licking our wounds the next day we recovered with Spa Smoothies by the pool and then had a sinful lunch at Nick's on our way out of town.

It was a fun, crazy weekend but we sort of can't wait to return and explore the tamer, more restful and wholesome side of Laguna!!
