A restaurant in WEST LA-- UPPER WEST for after a holiday party and fabulous inexpensive JEWELRY online
After the Arcade (a top notch edit facility near MTV and Fox) holiday party last week, I was stumped as to where to go for a fun dinner nearby. Chatting with a few folks who were familiar with the neighborhood, they suggested Upper West on Pico just west of the 405. Napper and I were blown away by the open NYC style loft space with beamed soaring ceilings, chalkboards announcing wines and beer and packed, bustling scene at 9pm on a Thursday-- which is late for dinner in LA!
Our waiter was friendly and informative and when asked about two different wines on the wine list, offered a wine tasting for both of us. We chose the Nada Blanca Temparnillo from Paso Robles by the glass which was described at having a, "velvety orgasmic finish." If that isn't a compelling sales pitch, not sure what is. And it was delicious.
The beef carpaccio (the first I've braved since getting sick after ordering it Marrakech-- who does that?!) was delectable as was the petite culotte steak served with a creamy cabbage slaw with bacon mixed in-- yum! The veggie burger was made fresh with a cornucopia of chopped vegetarian delights carefully persuaded into a paddy.....
Everyone working there was efficient and friendly-- from the hostess to the bus boys. Honestly, I love this restaurant! And for you single ladies, there were a plethora of young men in suits having dinner and hanging at the bar-- bring your mistletoe!
Earlier in the evening at Arcade, I stumbled upon a fun, funky and very wearable jewelry line -- LSG. With most everything priced under $100, Lauren's designs make for excellent gifts-- for yourself and others!
