Stopover In Seattle

Inn at The Market, SeattleEtta's SeattleThe Diller Hotel, Seattle

Despite only having 24 hours in Seattle we covered a lot of ground, sampled a lot of incredible coffee, and fully appreciated Seattle's seafood bounty!

11:00 Arrived at Inn at The Market, the perfect location conveniently situated one block from Pike Place Market and in the center of the action. Strolled down to Local Color and Art for a coffee while waiting for room to be ready.

12:00pm Explored Pike Place Market.

1:00pm Fun lunch outside on the Water at Elliot's Oyster House. Great spicy buffalo oysters and even though it felt slightly touristy it was fun to be on the water on such a beautiful day.

Afternoon wandering, run, and shopping.  Alhambra is the boutique not to miss! If I hadn't been allowed only 25 lbs on the sea plane we were boarding the next day, I easily could have been inspired to buy many things in this store!

6:00pm Pre-dinner drinks at Marche Bistro & Wine bar located in the courtyard of our hotel Inn at The Market.

8:00pm Dinner at Tom Douglas' Etta's. It was truly an incredible feast and I now understand why Tom Douglas is Seattle's most prolific chef. He has 10 restaurants in Seattle, won the James Beard Award for Best Northwest Chef in 1994 and in 2012, won the James Beard Award as Best Restaurateur. He deserves the accolades, everything we sampled was incredible. I particularly loved the Alaskan Halibut with Spanish fried rice, rock shrimp, clams, chorizo, saffron. Everything was good and deliciously unique.

After dinner drinks at the Diller room.

Coffee from the original Starbuck's and an egg sandwich from a little market. Wish I had pulled it together in time to have breakfast at Seatown, one of Tom Douglas' other restaurants that is know for it's inventive breakfast. The friends that were up in time (they have a baby) said it lived up to it's reputation!

Loved Seattle and wish I had had more time to explore!
