Michelin starred Chef, Steve Litke's, four course tasting dinner at The Farmhouse Inn was such an experience we though it deserved its own post.  Four exquisite courses featuring the finest, freshest, local and seasonal  ingredients are paired perfectly with wines carefully selected to champion their flavors.  The extensive wine list features the best wines Sonoma County has to offer and is complimented with international selections.  While the menu changes constantly based on what is in season and available, here are some of the the highlights we indulged in:

First Course:

Lakota Squash & Honey Crisp Apple Soup, ginger spiced gulf prawns, micro greens.  Paired with Navarro, Gewuztraminer, Anderson Valley - 2011.

Roasted Heirloom Beet Salad, horseradish creme fraiche, parsley-walnut pesto, micro mustard greens.  Paired with Chenin Blac, Leo Steen, Cry Creek Valley - 2010.

Second Course:

Grilled Mediterranean Octopus, Peruvian potato causa, sauce Romesco, Marcona Almonds.  Paired with Cassis, Domaine du Bagnol, Provence, France - 2010.

This is the most tender and delicious octopus we have ever eaten. It melts in your mouth.

Main Course:

Wild Alaskan Halibut, sunchoke, hon jemishi mushrooms, filet beans, lemon-thyme-olive beurre fondue. Paired with Chardonnay, Matthiasson "Linda Vista," Napa - 2011.

Pan Roasted Filet of Beef, smoked tomato chanterelle butter, potato pave, french and wax filet beans, broken tomato vinaigrette. Paired with Merlot, Pride, Napa/Sonoma - 2009.

Dessert:

Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream, double chocolate cocoa nib cookies. Paired Malmsey Madeira "Ten Years Old," Broadbent Portugal.

We've never tasted halibut or beef as delicious, nor did we know that beet salad could be so interesting and insanely good.  That's where Steve's brilliance shines-- in combining simple ingredients in an inventive way, leaving us with a dining experience we won't forget.
