Be Sponsored: How to Host the Perfect Holiday Party!

Christmas partyWith Christmas and New Year's days away, it's down to the wire for Christmas Party Planning!

As time is of the essence, old fashioned snail mail invitations are not in the cards so send out Paperless Post invites or just pick up the phone. Ensure you have a spiffy well dressed crowd and guide them with a "Festive Dress" declaration on your invite.

If you are having a small cozy gathering at home, make sure you are stocked up on shrimp cocktail, carved roast turkey, mince pies and other festive party food.  Have some vegetarian options on hand as well.  Get super traditional with mulled wine, and if possible, hire someone to be on hand serving drinks to guests as they arrive so you are free to mingle. For a more intimate gathering a self-serve bar does the trick.

The table will be a big focus next to your tree!  Keep things simple and elegant-- stick with a color theme-- maybe all white for New Year's and red for Christmas.  Lots of candles, holly, boughs of pine and poinsettias make for lovely organic and festive decorations.

Everyone loves gifts and a Secret Santa is a fun way of doing this. When inviting friends, tell them all to bring one unisex gift of a certain value that is wrapped. Have a large stocking or box near the front door for people to put their gifts in as they arrive. After a few drinks, each guest can pick a present and everyone opens together!  Ho ho ho!
