Be Thankful: Dinner On The Farm!

As we gear up to feast, we're taking a moment to appreciate where all the tasty food we are about to indulge in comes from.  In California, much of it may come to us via The Center For Land-Based Learning, an organization whose mission is "to inspire and motivate people of all ages, especially youth, to promote a healthy interplay between agriculture, nature and society through their own actions and as leaders in their communities."

We recently checked out what they're up to by going to one of their amazing "Dinners on the Farm." Held at their stunning headquarters, the picturesque Farm on Putah Creek, is just a short drive from San Francisco yet seems worlds away. First and foremost, it was a celebration of food and where it comes from-- literally all around us on the property. The picture perfect setting, music, and cocktails were a lovely backdrop for Chef Nate Appleman's (recently named Food & Wine's best new chef!) culinary creations.  His sweet potato, kale, and queso fresco crepas were just one of the reasons he is worthy of this mega award. All ingredients were sourced from local purveyors and each dish gave new meaning to the word delicious. CLBL holds Dinner on the Farm quarterly-- don't miss the unique opportunity!

Until then, Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the feast wherever you are. xoxo
