Detox! For a day. Pressed Juicery, yoga and yes, food.

After four heavenly and decadent days at The Dunmore on Harbour Island in the Bahamas where our daily diet consisted of conch fritters, buttery lobster, pastas with crab, warm cookies in the afternoon and banana/chocolate desserts- and not to mention Goombay Smash rum drinks and wine-- we morally and physically needed a detox!

We love Pressed Juicery which opened a few months ago in the Brentwod Country Mart and  now also has a truck stationed out at the Malibu Country Mart.  We'll pick up a Greens juice as well as a Chlorophyll Water (great for glowing skin!) before an important event or photo session.

For those looking for serious cleanses and detox programs, which we were not-- have tried in the past at We Care in Desert Hot Springs and not for us-- Pressed offers several cleanses for 3 or 5 day periods.  Again, 3 days with no solid food = not for us.  However, we mused, why not purchase the juices for part of the cleanse and give it a go for the afternoon?  Sold.

After a smoothie for breakfast and a cup of coffee, which any nutrition/detox person would say don't but...., we felt energized and focused.

Following an hour and a half yoga class at Yoga Hop, we purchased a Greens 1, Detox 2 and Roots 2 to sip throughout the afternoon.

Spacing them about two hours apart, we had moments of feeling a little hungry and maybe a little queasy, but it was totally manageable.

For dinner, we made our favorite vegetarian dish-- Quinoa Surprise, which is filling, protein packed and delicious, if we do say so ourselves.  A half glass of red wine would again not be recommended, but hey, it's good for your heart!  And your soul.

Today we feel spritely and energized!
