Kickstarter - An Innovative Way To Get Your Creative Project Funded....

About a week ago the website Kickstarter was referenced in several conversations with friends in varied fields - a chef, an architect, and a filmmaker all contemplating how to get their creative projects funded.  I pressed my friend Patrick, the filmmaker, to tell me more about it and did a little research on my own.

What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is website that goes around traditional investment options making it possible to get money from the general public.

How it works?

1. Apply to Kickstarter to have your project posted on the site.  2. Determine the target amount you need to make your project a reality and the deadline to gather the money.  The catch is, no funds are collected unless the target amount is reached.  Pledged money is paid through Amazon.  Kickstarter claims no ownerships of the projects once they are produced.

Check out Patrick Roscoe's short film project, ENGINE BLOCK, currently featured on Kickstarter.  A witty, dramatic comedy about, "a human being that can't get his life out of his driveway."  Click the above link to read more about the project and watch a short video where Patrick Roscoe and Josh Feldman, co-writers and co-directors tell you more! One third of their funding is already raised.
