Lobster on the Long Island Sound
The end of August and Labor Day weekend is our favorite time of the year as we return to our family roots on the Long Island Sound. Family time, old friends and the cool, calm and collectedness of quintessential New England are enhanced by the sounds of fog horns, seagulls and the clanging of buoys. The pristine, unspoiled beauty of the Sound has been a part of us since we were little and is a source of grounding comfort when life gets hectic. Charming waterfront towns from which to soak it all in, are Mystic, CT, Stonington, CT and Watch Hill, RI. Each season we make the boat trip to Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough in Groton, CT for lobster rolls, steamers, and strawberry shortcake. Tie up on the dock in your bathing suit and flip flops or jeans and a sweater—nothing fancy as the “dining room” is picnic tables on the lawn.
