Love you, Lanai!

Our February trip to the idyllic island sanctuary of Lanai couldn’t have come at a better time.  We had just endured months of evacuations from Santa Barbara and then Mary lost her home in the January 9th Montecito mudslide.  Arriving at the Four Seasons Lanai was like being enveloped in a warm, tropical hug far away from our rather harsh realities at home.

It’s true what they say about Four Seasons– the service is impeccable.  Everyone knew our names and was friendly and helpful while still offering privacy and quiet.  The thoughtful gesture of a pregnancy pillow in Mary’s room is just one way they appeal to the many pregnant guests– apparently they’ve had so many baby moons (Hawaii is zika free!!), they have some special baby moon offerings- be sure to check them out.

Our favorite spot to perch following a morning activity of yoga, a nature walk or a visit to the oasis of a spa (they have a pregnancy pillow!!  The donut so you can lie face down– heaven) was on the cliff above the ocean.  We would read and have our delicious Malibu Farm (a fave from our old life in LA) lunch in our lounge chairs and then wander down the path to the beach for swimming and snorkeling right off the beach.

The rooms are gorgeous and minimalist and the bathrooms are divine with separate soaking tubs, fancy Japanese toilets, and delicious smelling products.  One note is that some of the rooms are far from the lobby/beach.  You might request a top floor room as well as one closer to the main building if walking is an issue for you.

The boutique in the lobby is also chock full of incredibly chic finds and the spa boutique offers lots of favorite natural products that really work– we love Kypris and Osea.

The breakfast buffet was really worth it and we feasted every morning on exotic (to us) local fruits, yogurts, smoothies, omelettes, eggs with salmon, baked goods and drank the most beautiful lattes you’ve ever seen.  Dinner at Nobu was a highlight as well.

Leaving Lanai was hard!  We were talking about our next visit..  and a future retreat?!  Would love to share this island paradise with all of you.  Stay tuned. xoxo
