Something for the June Brides: Last-Minute Inspiration!

As spring comes rolling around, we’re bound to encounter more than one bride who’s busy putting the finishing touches on her June wedding. With only two months to go before the wedding date, everything from the wedding cake to the seating arrangements should have already been planned out (at least, that’s what this checklist from Real Simple says).

But every wife who’s ever experienced the stresses and hassles of planning a wedding will tell you that the needed inspiration at every step of the way. Whether it was with dealing with wedding invitations or last-minute changes with the band, there’s always something to be improved in the eyes of a bride-to-be! Here are some key areas that you may be able to sneak a bit more creativity into:

1. The Wedding Flowers

Choosing colorful wedding flowers are a great way to add vibrance and life to your wedding. While you may have already selected different floral arrangements for your wedding and reception, everyone knows that the bridal bouquet needs to be a cut above the rest! Make your bouquet stand out by selecting a different color, or a mix of different colors that can really set you apart from the guests. M&S flower guru Simon Richards suggested a couple of pointers: “Two simple rules are to either combine tonal shades of one color or choose vibrant clashes such as cerise, purple and yellow.” And in fact, Martha Stewart also lives by this idea, suggesting that brides use more than one kind of flower, and in more than one shade, in order to get a lovely textured effect in their bouquets. 2. The Wedding Favors

Experts have seen a trend: people don’t really put too much thought into their wedding favors anymore. After all, for a while, many guests have simply left their wedding favors to collect dust in their attic, and you could end up saving so much more money by foregoing the wedding favors altogether. Instead of using a traditional candle holder, mug, or picture frame as a wedding favor however, you may want to look into getting something more modern. How about a pack of jelly beans in your wedding colors? A bottle of herbed sea salt? Maybe even breakfast in a basket? There’s loads of more contemporary ideas out there!Screenshot 2014-05-15 10.09.16 Screenshot 2014-05-15 10.09.34 Screenshot 2014-05-15 10.09.53

3. The Wedding Photos

If you haven’t finalized arrangements with your photographer just yet, you might be able to save a bit on the photography of your wedding by crowdsourcing it to your friends and family. Ask your friends and family to snap photos of your wedding and upload them to Instagram using a certain hashtag, and use a tool like IFTTT.com to automatically sort the photos into an album. Of course, you could do this even with a professional photographer taking photos of the wedding -- it’s a great way to see the many sides of the wedding and really showcase the emotions throughout the event!
