Our 5 favorite power lunch spots in Los Angeles
Oh the Power Lunch. It is a part of LA culture. Here are our 5 fave spots all over town:
1. Ammo
Ammo has been serving delicious, fresh, seasonal fare since 1996 at this central Hollywood location. The salads, soups and fish are sophisticated yet don't leave your stomach at war. Ammo is intimate and friendly- the perfect backdrop for closing deals.
2. Tiato
Our powerhouse friend Anna Robertson introduced us to this gem of a restaurant amidst all the office buildings in Santa Monica. The garden is a lovely respite to the sterile surrounding buildings. Close to Yahoo! and HBO, you can be sure some business is getting done quite amicably over the turkey taco salad and truffle mac & cheese. We hear they have a fantastic Happy Hour as well- wine and beer only.
3. Akasha
A lot of the lunchtime crowd at Akasha located in Culver City hails from Sony. We love the fresh, organic food in this sleek, minimalist space. The quinoa bowls and skirt steak are favorites. Culver City is a great half way meeting point when you're located across town from your lunching companion....
A hot spot for Universal Studios heavy weights. The sushi is divine- particularly the Picachu Roll- shrimp tempura, cucumber & crab wrapped w/avocado & albacore topped w/ scallions & ponzu. The menu is also infused with creations that blend Japanese, Latin and Italian cuisines.
For the heavy hitters and big time players, lunch up top at the Polo Lounge outside. The starriest of stars sit in the booths around the perimeter of the garden. For a more casual, brainstorming lunch, sit down by the pool. The McCarthy Salad is one of our all time favorite salads. If the deal goes down, order a glass of the Whispering Angel Rose to toast!
