The New Year's family road trip continued from Paso Robles, CA to Cavallo Point Lodge in Sausalito, CA!  Having been here years ago for drinks with our great friend Emma who is a San Francisco local, I had always wanted to return to stay.  And so we did.

Arriving at dusk in time for the complimentary wine hour (the new parents quite enjoy our evening wine these days!), I requested an upgrade to a suite after a somewhat sleepless night in Paso Robles where the three of us were all in one, granted large, but all open, room.  Apparently, our champion sleeper had a tough time sleeping on the road in the same room with Mom-- "people" say the baby smells his mother, aka food source, and can't sleep.  Guess it would be the equivalent of us sleeping right next to a huge piece of chocolate cake!  Alas, all the suites were sold out, but the incredibly kind and professional fellow at the front desk changed our room to the largest one he had and moved us into one of the picturesque buildings on the front lawn with staggering views of San Francisco.  Loved him!

We settled into our historic King room with fireplace, an enormous and gorgeous bathroom with double sinks and a separate stunning soaking tub, a basket of complimentary local snacks, and the aforementioned insane views.

After our babysitter arrived (organized through a local friend), we crossed the lawn for dinner with Emma and her fiance Curtis in the festive and cozy bar at the hotel.  We had thought we'd try the restaurant, but upon peering in, the bar seemed much more lively and friendly.  After a delicious dinner and local Cali wines, we hit the hay.

It was another tough night with Baby Ever waking a few times, but after some strong coffee and a delightful breakfast on the veranda of the restaurant the next morning, we were off to hike up to the Golden Gate Bridge which Cavallo Point sits just below.  Some people (Baby Ever) were so exhausted from the hike, they slept the whole way...

Really love this property for a family affair!  Really just love Northern California period.  We drove off late morning for a lunch of oysters and chowder on Tomales Bay at the Marshall Store before checking into the beloved Nick's Cove.  xox
