Sara's Cape Cod- the inside scoop on beaches, gourmet shops and art. AND Summer Beach Reads not to miss!

Sara (Rosenthal) Butchenhart is one of our best friends who grew up spending her summers on Cape Cod and whose family owns and operates Jams, the gourmet grocery in Truro.  She gives us the inside scoop on the Cape...

Jams

Founded by my parents over 20 years ago, Jams pretty much makes up “downtown” Truro! It has everything from delicious baked goods, sandwiches, paninis and rotisserie chickens to a wonderful selection of wines, cheeses and other gourmet goods. A perfect spot to pick up breakfast, lunch, dinner or goodies for a summer cocktail party.

Ballston Beach

The perfect spot to spend a summer day. Bring sandwiches from Jams and a good book. My favorite time to visit is during low tide when you can wade out to the sandbars and body surf.

Robert Cardinal

My mother is a close friend of Bobby’s, and therefore I am lucky enough to own three of his amazing works. His ability to capture the colors of the Lower Cape is unbelievable and his paintings hanging in my home in Venice, CA remind me of my favorite place on earth!

Beach Reads

These aren’t newcomers, just books I have recently read and loved….

Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins

Yes, these are young adult books but that doesn’t mean they aren’t page turners! I got Mary hooked during a rainy day in Vermont. You will soon find yourself hanging on Katniss’ every move…

Freedom by Jonathan Franzen

By the author of The Corrections, this is another great story of a family told from many differing points of view, with three intersecting love triangles to keep things interesting.

The Tiger’s Wife by Téa Obreht

On the surface, a tale of  Natalia’s search for the truth behind her beloved grandfather's death, but the stories this search uncovers make for an emotional and touching story.
