Shopping: Downtown New York City!!
We didn't want to waste any time on our one day to hit the shops in New York City.
From our Mom's apartment in Soho, Mary ran to the corner deli for egg sandwiches (it is amazing how all NYC delis make the most delicious egg sandwiches in moments flat), while Lucy dashed to Cafe Cafe on Greene St. for coffees. After our very New York breakfast, we hit the shops.
Nolita
One of our all time favorites, this little Nolita boutique is stocked with the latest trends at a variety of price points. We never walk out of here empty handed. Mara Hoffman, Lauren Moffatt, Alexander Wang and Aaron Ashe all beckon....
We love Cynthia Vincent's effortless designs. She has just opened this jewelbox sized boutique in Nolita a few months ago and getting to see all of her designs in one space, we realize her range and vision as a designer. The albino peacock in the corner looks down over the wearable dresses, cute boots and jewelry. Chelsea, who was running the store when we were in, was a perfect advertisement for the designs-- we loved her style so much we took a picture of her armful of bracelets as inspiration!
This sexy little boutique is only a few months old. A mix of designers we know and love (Mara Hoffman, again!) and Vivienne Westwood, and emerging designers. We are obsessed with the bohemian meets punk meets stylish meets intercontinental woman the wares at Condor convey.
Another newcomer, Love Adorned almost feels like a gallery. Interesting jewelry, handmade moccasins and housewares abound. An usual blend of vintage and boho with cutting edge modern.
Soho
This is one of our old standbys which has relocated to a new and fabulous space on Prince St., one block from it's cramped old location on Spring St. Wink is always up on the latest trends.
Comptior des CotonniersWith two locations in downtown NYC- one in Soho and one in the West Village, this French shop is a classed up and well, French take on American Gap or Banana Republic with cute, wearable and affordable basics.
West Village
Otte is a tiny little boutique in the West Village with loads of fashionable finds. Rachel Comey, See by Chloe, 3.1 Philip Lim and on and on... Be warned, tis a bit expensive.
Lucy found a fabulous end of summer dress at teeny tiny Project 159. Yumi Kim, Dolve Vita shoes and other inexpensive designers we hadn't heard of, make this a quick stop. If you find something you love, good news, you will not be breaking the bank.
We'll report on restaurants and bars in the next few days! Oh, New York. We love you.
