We padded our November getaway to Whidbey (coming soon) and Orcas Islands in Washington State with quick stop offs in Seattle. Although we arrived after midnight, we managed to make the most of our morning before heading to Whidbey - strolling from downtown to The Market, enjoying one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had (fried egg, avocado, beecher's Jack cheese and dungeness crab on an English muffin) at Tom Douglas' Seatown, and purchasing all natural goods for our trip at Pike Place.

On our return we had an excellent dinner at Renee Erickson's The Whale Wins in the Fremont Collective Building - a cool, clean, open and airy converted warehouse. The clams, chicken, and cauliflower were all incredible which makes sense as the restaurant is known for it's wood-fired vegetables and local fare. It also features a great selection of wines by the glass.  We tucked into The Edgewater for our final night and appreciated our cozy fireplace, the luxurious free-standing soaking tub, and the moonlit balcony right on Elliot Bay. The Edgewater is a larger hotel, but its waterfront location, knotty pine accents, and ambient fireplaces make it feel intimate.  A total plus to be right on the water and yards from the action of the city.
