PHOENIX tour kicked off last night at the Hollywood Bowl
Phoenix was amazing last night! They brought it. From France. Hot off of their Grammy win for Best Alternative Album, they are on tour now hitting Santa Barbara tonight, and off to San Diego, New York, Mexico City, Boston to name a few stops on the tour.... For their full tour schedule and to buy tickets, check out www.songkick.com.
They are true performers with awe inspiring lighting, several forays out into the audience and a clever and dramatic bookend with "Lisztomania," their most popular song. What we love about them (besides their French accents and by the way, they are very cute, which we never knew!) is that in the alternative music space which is chock full of depressed and mournful sounds, Phoenix offers something upbeat, hopeful and happy.
We love going to shows at the Hollywood Bowl as it is outdoors set in the Hollywood Hills and you can bring a full picnic in -- including booze. Last night we packed some Bonterra organic chardonnay (twist off tops are helpful in the dark!), Bay Cities Godmother sandwiches, and French truffle cheeses in a nod to Phoenix's French roots and mac and cheese from Lemonade. Not a light picnic!!
Because it does get chilly even in LA at night, we always wear lots of layers to the Bowl. Mary's favorite new purchase which was perfect last night with jeans and boots is a sweatshirt from Aviator Nation-- yes, way overpriced but so soft and cute.
We're considering becoming groupies.... or Band Aids.
